Antalya (Turkish pronunciation: [ɑnˈtɑljɑ]) is the fifth-most populous city in Turkey (In 2015, the population was 2.288 million) and the capital of its eponymous province. Located on Anatolia's flourishing south-west coast bordered by the Taurus Mountains, Antalya is the largest Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast with over one million people in its metropolitan area. The city that is now Antalya was first settled around 200 BC by the Attalid dynasty of Pergamon, which was soon subdued by the Romans. Roman rule saw Antalya thrive, including the construction of several new monuments, such as Hadrian's Gate, and the proliferation of neighboring cities. The city has changed hands several times, including to the Seljuk Sultanate in 1207 and an expanding Ottoman Empire in 1391. Ottoman rule brought relative peace and stability for the next five hundred years. The city was transferred to Italian suzerainty in the aftermath of World War I, but was recaptured by a newly independent Turkey in the War of Independence. Antalya is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera. Large-scale development and governmental funding has promoted tourism. A record 14 million tourists passed through the city in 2018. Antalya was the host city for the 2015 G-20 summit and the EXPO 2016. In Antalya, smart city applications are being implemented day by day. Some smart city projects are; free wifi zones, intelligent traffic management, intelligent transportation system, intelligent health service, intelligent bus stops, city bikes, solar powered football stadium etc. Antalya Stadium has a total roof area of 22.118 m2 and has the highest stadium solar capacity in the world and photovoltaic solar panels producing 1400 kw electricity. - Cost of Living in Antalya - Health Care in Antalya - Quality of Life in Antalya - Crime rates in Antalya - Pollution in Antalya - Traffic in Antalya - Antalya.com.tr - Antalya City Plan - Antalya Airport (AYT) - Antalya Smart City App (Android) - Antalya Smart City App (Apple) - Antalya Metropolitan Municipality - Governorship of Antalya - Antalya Governorship European Union Projects Coordination Center - AntalyaKart (Transportation Card of Antalya) - Antalya Bike (AntBis) - Antalya - Turkey Home
